LC approval Lost in mail. :(

I never received my LC approval notice from Boston regional DOL for over a month now. My application was certified in July but I never received it till now. My company/ Laywer are now declaring it "lost in mail". Lawyer says we need to apply for a duplicate and says that process takes upto 6 months to receive a duplicate letter. Is it true? Can someone share their experience in this matter?

The best bet would be to apply 140/485 and along with application, send a request for copy of LC to be sent to service center. DOL will not issue a duplicate LC for any reason to you/your lawyer/your employer.

Such requests of asking a copy thru service center is usually handled more efficiently and more importantly you do not lose on your Notice date for 140 and/or 485 application which is very important.

Thank you very much for your reply Jharkhandi. Here's my concern:

- the application for I-140 and I-485 is not considered complete until they see all the paperwork in place. The 3-month timeline for EAD card also doesnt begin till the paperwork is complete (is it true?). In other words I wouldnt know if my case is just sitting out there for lack of paperwork or if it is moving ahead.
