Layoff while pending I-485

I was in my AOS stage when I got layedoff. I am an H1 holder.

1. if I could not find a job immediately, what happened?
2. if I found a job in the same state, Is thewre any way that my new employer ( whoever that\'s gonna be) can continue that, without starting the entire process all over again.
3. If I found a job in other state, what happened?

PLEASE PLEASE ADVICE.

It all depends on how long your AOS has been pending at INS.
180 day is a critical mark.
