Layoff to new Job - How much time?

Scenario -

I am laid off. I have EAD. 180 days have passed after filing I-485.

1. How much time I have to find another job? Is there a limit on number of days?


2. Until I find a new job, can I draw unemployment insurance? Does it affect GC in any way?

Gurus please answer.

I believe no job required

For technical purposes, I believe you do not have to have a job to continue your case immediately.
It may become an issue, in case you have to go for an interview or there is any RFE of this sort.

People have talked in this forum (probably jaxen) that you may get unemployment and have also talked that one may not. It probably depends on the type of insurance you had with your previous employer.

Have faith, make priorities and start attacking them systematically.

All will get resolved.

But in my case I took unemployment until I started working on new job.

BCIS did not send me RFE and denied my I-485. They revoked my I-140 when former employer informed about the lay off.

I am doing Motion to Reopen my case. But I am not sure how far this will go. Do you have any suggestions?
