Layoff Question, URGENT !!!!

Guys, I was laid off when my attorney was abou to file for I485.Priority date current, EB2/RIR. The attorney says nothing can be done.Any thoughts and suggestions welcomed.

If your I140 is employer sponsored, then your attorney is right. You can not file I485 because it needs your employer to sign it.

THough you cannot file a I485 due to the situation, here is something else you can do - you can retain your PD and use it with the GC application you file with the new employer. So all is not lost is I guess the silver lining !

Find a new employer who is willing to file Green card, and is eligible to do an RIR labor. you can still retain the same priority date.
