lawyer closed office

Hi, All,

My original lawyer who filed my I485 back in June 2002 closed his office completely, and will not open it agian. Before he did that, he sent me all the paperwork he has for me.

In Feb 2005, I switched to another company, and the lawyer there had processed all my necessary paper work(AR11, AC21, AP, and EAD).

I just switched job in Sep this year, and have not filed AC21 yet.

But my question is how I should update Texas about this lawyer change. I am afraid future correspondence may still go through my original lawyer OR me. We all know that Texas can sometimes just send to lawyer without cc applicants.

Please help!

Two options:

1. Downlaod form G-28 and indicate your name that u are representing ur case yourself. attach all pending petiton receipt with it.
(note: read instruction if u need to file G-28 seperately for all pending petitions).

2. Hire new attorney , he would file G-28 and would represent ur all pending matters.

Good Luck

Thanks for the response! I have two cases pending on me now, I485 for me and I485 for my wife.

My firm, a small one, asks me if I can give a ballpark number for the filing of G28 through the lawyer. Anyone knows? Or I can just file myself completely. The form is relatively easy, but I don't want to triger un-expected reactions from Texas

Thank you.
