a conundrum. My wife got her US citizenship in 1983 and we are unsure whether her last passport was submitted to the Indian consulate in SFO. We do have her earlier passports and are missing the last one ( of course the details like #, date of issue etc).
My questions are:

a. she has a valid visa to travel to India (valid till 2013) - does she need the renunciation certificate?
b. Is there any mode by which we can get details of her last Indian passport from the Indian consulates in USA?

thanks for your help

If you have her earlier passport, you can get one of them canceled. She does not need a renunciation certificate now, only when she renews her visa or applies for an OCI/PIO.
