On 05/01, lawyer had received FP notice only for me, not for my spouse. My FP was scheduled for 05/15. Called up TSC using POJ trick , was told that FPs were ordered for both myself and spouse. We were asked to wait for notice. Over the next two weeks, called multiple times, answers ranged from "it has been mailed" to "maybe spouse's FP will be scheduled on another date" to "we will start inquiry, wait 45 days". 05/14 - still no notice for both of us at our address. Lawyer forwarded my FP notice.

On 05/14 both of us went to ASC - early FP was not allowed. On 15th, ASC refused to take FP for my spouse despite our pleas, saying that notice was needed. On 17th early morning, used POJ and talked to a very knowledgable and helpful person. She confirmed that FP for spouse was indeed scheduled for 05/15 along with my appointment. Couldn't say why the notices were never mailed. She said she would send the notice, then all we need to do was walk-in at the ASC any following Wednesday, even though the FP appointment date was past.

Today, we walked-in at the ASC. There was no crowd, no questions were asked and FP for spouse was completed.

There is a risk of I485 abandonment if FP was scheduled and the person didn't make the appointment for whatever reason. If you have not received FP appointment, call using POJ just to make sure there are no mailing issues. Ask when FP has been scheduled. Calling using non-POJ is not that useful as they don't have updated information. For walk-in without appointments, approach local ASC on Wednesday rather than other days. USCIS seems to be closed and only ASC is open.
