last updated - Case status

in following a case status online at USCIS site, using registered login, from time to time the last updated 'Date' changes but the current status remains the same. What does that signify.

- case moved to next stage?
- website update? (although that is once or twice a month - I assume that there website gets updated pretty frequently.)
- or something else?

A 'LUD change' can happen for any number of reasons:
- nothing happens to the file
- file being moved around
- officer looking at file
- dust settling on file

The online system is NOT linked to the USCIS computer. Some contractor worker bees update it with the daily activities.

There are some people who try to make a whole science out of 'LUD' changes, trying to discern patterns that 'predict' things happening.

Lets say you have an approved I140 and a pending I485. If nothing happens for 6 months and suddenly there are daily updates people tend to get very excited.
