Last update date changed w/o change in status

I recently created a case status protfolio account around 10 days back. On 04/27, the last update date on my and my family's 485s changed to 04/27 from some date in early 2003. However, the case status is still the same.

I am wondering if anybody else had the same experience.

Yes. Lot of people have seen this. See the following disclaimer at the end of the "My Portfolio" page.

* Note on "Last Updated" date:
Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.
 
At the risk of hearing the same reply, my and my wife's cases had a change in the 'Last Updated' to '05/04/04' from 04/27/04. Curiously, however, this time there was no change in this date in my son's case.

I wonder what is happening - two updates in one week, without any change in status.
