Hi all,
we did our landing last week in Toronto airport. All the formalities were done at the airport.

Went to the immigration counter and handed our passports and CORP forms.
The immigration officier asked me if I will need to return to US to continue on my job.I said "yes".She then asked me "when are u planning to come to Canada".I told her that I currently working on a project and once thatz over and when I find a job in canada I will move there".Then she asked about the amount we were carrying for settlement.I took Casiers cheque US$8500 and a bank stmt for the remaing amount.Immigration Officer said that she doesnt want to see the CC/bank stmt and just asked me for the total of both the amounts in CAN $.I had took the sum of both the CC amount & amount in bank written in a small paper.I just gave the immigration officier that paper and she filled that amount in the form.

Then she asked us to sign the papers and said that we would receive the PR card in 4 - 6 weeks.

Then went to customs and finished the formalities there.I took 2 copies of GTF list.

Initially gave the customs officer one copy and she asked me if I have an another copy.I handed it over to her.She typed something on her computer and stamped the GTF list and gave it back to us.She then asked us if we have listed mattress in the GTF list and told us mattress cannot be brought inside Canada.

We then went to HRSDC office in Queens Quay and applied for SIN.They said that we would receive it within 1 week.

Thank you all for ur timely help and prompt responses. We dont know what we would have done without this forum and helpful ppl like u all.

Thanks to everybody.
Good Luck to all.

Congrats!!!

I migh tbe wrong but I have heard that if you tell them that you are planning to come back to US to work right after landing ... they might ask u to do teh landing when I am ready to move ... so I am not sure if its a good idea to tell that or not i.e. the intension of returning back, any one had that experience ...

I had that confusion too before my landing. But many suggested to just say the truth. Also I think it depends on the immigration officer.

Good Luck.

aaa06,

congrats!

You mentioned mattresses are not allowed to be imported? Does that mean we cannot bring our beds with us?

do you have any link for us?
thanx

The customs officier specifically told us that matress shouldnt be brought inside Canada(Not the bed frame).
