Flew out of Phili to Toronto on 15th afternoon. Landing was so easy. There was an Indian lady at the Immigration, she asked how much money I was carrying. I told US $9900. I was about to take Cashiers check from my wallet, she said never mind. She attached a red slip to my customs form and pointed me to the Immigration Counter. She said "Welcome to canada" with a big smile. That was cute There was hardly anyone at the immigration counter. A guy from Seychelles took my COPR, passport etc and took my local address. He looked at the COPR and said the photo was not good enough. So took a snap and then directed me to another lady in a red jacket. She gave me the welcome packet. Then went through the customs. They didnt ask me for the goods to follow. When I told them I had one, they asked me to go to a different counter. The guy took the information and stamped it and gave a copy of it to me. Also noted the car details and gave me a form to use when I import it eventually. Thats it and I was done.
Rented a car at the airport, drove around Toronto, went to CN tower, etc... Next day went to Niagara. The drive is awesome along Lake Ontario. The falls are spectacular from this side of the border. From the tower there, you can see Downtown Toronto and Buffalo. It was pretty good. Drove back to Toronto late in the night. Got back to Phili on 17th.
It was a short trip, but was fun. My overall impression was that Canada is as good a place to live as USA. The taxes are definitely higher though, also I am not sure about the job scene.
If my gc gets thru in the next couple of years, well and good, else I will move north.
Later!
