Landed in 2006 and now moving permanantly from US.

Hello All,

I landed in Canada from US in May 2006 and returned back to US. I had to revisit Canada again (in 2006) as my photos did not meet the PR requirements and had to be retaken (in Aug 2006). Both these times, we were inquired about our goods and we had mentioned that we are moving them later (from US). Now I am planning on moving permanantly to Canada from US. I have planned to move my house-hold stuff and one of my two cars through movers. I am planning to drive (not along with the mover) with my family in the other car subsequently. When we landed originally we were not aware of the goods to follow document, hence we don't have one.

1) When the movers take our stuff and car, will there any issues or any charges? We have planned to provide my employment letter, copy of landing papers.

2) When we drive and cross the border in our other car, what should we be prepared for?

3) Would like to also know about our cars (one that goes with the movers and the other we are driving with)?

Any help towards this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If you have not submitted the goods to follow list at the time of your landing, you will be charged the tax (duty) on your cars and other items (depends on what items you have, how old they are and their current value). Be prepared for this as this is the most important issue you will face.

Hey thanks for the response.
I just spoke with the Canadian customs and border patrol staff (from the website).
Since we landed and returned back, we will be able to take the stuff along with us.
We should prepare and carry along with us
1) We will need to provide our US re-entry stamping (I-94) along with the copy of our landing papers.
2) Fill the goods to follow form with the inventory of our goods shipped with movers.
3) Fill the goods we are carrying along with us in our car.

These two goods to follow and goods carrying along forms will be stamped at the border.

Thanks!
