does one need to have their PR card if they are leaving from canada to go back to their home country?

say one lands in canada or the first time from india and completes the landing procedures, apply for SIN card and everything and wants to return back to india in about 4/5 days time. does he have to wait for his PR cards before he can board a flight back to india? please give your inputs on this, thanks.

Yes your landing papers will be stamp for NOT VALID FOR TRAVELING. You need to wait for your PR card.

I agree with Truman...but in case of emergency you can leave Canada & to re-enter by Air you must have a PR card or in case your freind/relative is not able to mail it back to you in India or any where in the world then you have to apply for "temp travel document" it is a kind of single entry visa for one time use only issued by the Canadian consulate from where you want to fly back. The fee is CAD 50.
I did the same but I was able to get my PR card in mail which was sent to my address in Pakistan by my freind.

So you have two options......

safdarali - you have mentioned in your earlier post under the thread "Landing Expereince that one should have his/her PR card before they fly out of canada orelse the air carrier will not allow them to fly back to india. please clarify this. others can also give their perspective.

i have planned my trip to canada to complete my landing process by this aug end. i am getting tickets so that i will return back to india in a week's time. i will ask my friend to send the PR cards by fedex to me in india. now will i be allowed to travel back to india from canada in a week's time of landing, without a PR card? please let me know, thanks.

Hello-

PR card is only required to fly back to Canada. Any one can go out of Canada with out a PR card.
Remember...it is taking 3 to 5 weeks to get PR card after landing. One must have that margin to get his return flight to Canada. Else he/she must need a "temp travel document" from Canadian Consulate". Which is a type of single entry visa.

Thanks
