if you visit for a day in the USA:

what do they ask at the border now when you drive from canada to the US?

do they scan your license plate on your vehicle to get your ID and check you instantly against all US and Canadian databases?

do you need a photo ID or is just a Canadian birth certificate enough to cross the border in to the USA?

What happens?

Well, they take a Picture of your Licence plate not to get your ID but to put on Record.

You need 1 Photo ID (School ID, Health Card, Drivers licence, Employement Card..etc. Whatever shows your name and photo) and a Birth Certificate or Passport.

btw, they don't check up all databases, only to see if you have a record or your banned or any Govermental or Immigration proceedings.
