LAID OFF, work options, please reply

Please help,

after talking too much to my company people, they are still laying me
off wef April 31 (tried my level best for asking them to compromise
on this situation and keep me on payroll for atleast for another
1 or 2 months.)

What are my options, I have EAD, can i work on on 1099 or i have to
be on payroll of specific company. the reason i am asking
this is i have a project for 1 month, but the recruting company
wants to hire me on 1099. My old compnay is not willing to sponsor
me for this Project and keep me on employment, because of Rate
Problem..
 

Will all this cause any problems in my GC, please reply !!

EAD is as good as GC.(See Sheela Murhty\'s chat transcript). My view is that you can work on 1099 as EAD has no restrictions(check with attorney). However If your I485 is approved without RFE(Employment verification) then you are fine. Otherwise you need to get a job or an offer letter in case of an RFE for employment verification. As the GC is for future employment as long as either the sponsoring employer or any future prospective employer gives an offer letter you should be o.k. However check with an attorney. I also have a same situation as yours hoping to get approval without RFE.
