Laid off on I - 485 - PLEASE ADVICE ***ASAP***

My Priority Date : March 9\'1998
For I -485 : Receipt Date (RD) : June 6\'2001
             Notice Date (ND) : Aug 7\'2001
             Laid off : Aug 31\'2001

1 # ) When will my 180 days be over ? ( so that I can start new job ) Will it be Dec 6\'2001 or Feb 7\'2001 ?

2 #) i ) I have recieved my Advance Parole notice and have been laid off. Does this mean my Green Card process is over ?
     ii) If I join a new firm,
         a ) Will my Green Card process be started afresh ?
         b ) IF NOT, Whether my Green Card process will start from "I-
             140" OR from "I-485" ?
             What documents do I need and what conditions do I need to meet to avail it?

3 #) Since I have been Laid off, If INS still sends EAD for myself and my wife...
     i ) Can She Work after getting the EAD even if 180 day limit is not over?
    ii ) Can I work after getting the EAD even if 180 day limit is not over?

why don\'t you try getting your iEAD as soon as you can for both you & your wife. Take you attorney\'s suggestions

Dec 6th. It\'s 180 days after RD.

Depends if the INS adjudciate the case within 180 days.

         b ) IF NOT, Whether my Green Card process will start from "I-
             140" OR from "I-485" ?

See my earlier post, I believe you can join a new company
(with a similar job) on EAD card and you should be fine.
INS may issue a RFE to show that the new job is similar to old
one, so get a copy of your current I140 and LC.

Not sure.

You can interim EAD cards, 90 days after RD. please consult
other posts for this info.

Read this

I heard from one of my friend that one person who got laid off after 90 days and before 180 days got a job with another company by using EAD. The new company sent letter to INS asking the person can legally work for them. INS told NO and they took back the EAD. Now he is in H1 and working for the same company.
 
He should not have informed the INS

EAD is unrestricted and he should have just joined the new company using it. No need to ask INS
