Laid-off on H1B in Sept 2024. COS to B2 in Dec 2024, which expires on 3/19/2025. Should I file for another B2 cos or F2 cos?

I was laid off on H1B on 9/13/2024. I filed for B1 cos on 11/13/2024 and got B2 approval on 12/23/2024, valid from 12/23/2024 to 3/29/2025, though I had requested 6 months.

My wife is studying on an F1 visa and has a US-born 1-year-old son. I have less than 2 months of B2 visa validity. Should I file for an F2 cos or a B2 extension? But given that I had filed for cos just 2 months back, will another cos create a problem in the future when I finally found a job? It will be like every 2 months I am filing a cos.

Also, advise on whether I should go for premium processing of F2 cos given that there are less than 2 months left on my B2, or a normal cos filling work even if I don't get approval before 3/29/2025?

I was on the Day 1 CPT program for a semester in 2023 when I wasn't picked in my 3rd H1B lottery. I got picked in 2nd lottery of 2023 and moved to an H1B visa since then. I have paused that course in 2024 due to family commitments. So, is returning to Day 1 CPT visa an option until I find my next job?

Note: I lost the last two job offers because of my B2 visa status.

Following on my previous question. I am in the interview process and expect an offer if my interviews go well during the last week of March. Also, my B2 visa expires on 3/29/2025, and I was planning to file for F2 cos. But, if I receive an offer and my new employer cannot file my H1B visa before my B2 expires, should I file a B2 extension or still go ahead with F2 cos?

Hi Mahmood Raza, I am in the same boat as you, I am on my B2 right now. And I am thinking should I apply for B2 extension or not. What did you end up doing eventually ? Hope everything worked out for you.
