I thought I'll explain my situation in a different post rather than replying to someone. Ok so here is my scenario:
* Applied for I-485 (AOS) in Nov 2001.
* Received my EAD in Feb 2002.
* H1 expired in August 2002.
* Finished finger-printing in Sept 2002.
* Still waiting for AOS to be adjudicated.
* Got laid off in Nov 2002 (two weeks back)
Questions: What are my options?
* Since Its been more than 1 year since I applied for
the I-485, I guess the portability rule applies right?
* Will applying for unemployment insurance jeopardise
my I-485 adjudication? I have already done so!
* The lawyers at the company I got laid off from advise
me to get a job ASAP before the AOS is adjudicated
otherwise it may jeopardise my AOS. Is this true???
Would greatly appreciate if these questions can be
answered. Right now I have no idea what rights I
have or I dont have.
