Hi,

I am married to a US citizen for little less than a year. I came on a H1-B visa and was planning to file my I-130 and I-485, but before I could do that I got laid off last week. Am I out of status and do I need to return to my coutry? I planning on filing for my I-130 and I485 this week. Would there be a problem filing for it while I have not been employed for the past 2 weeks? Since, I would also have to leave the place of employment (if any) column blank. I am interviewing with another company an may get hired. Is it better to wait till I get a new job to file for GC? Please advice.
Thanks!

since u r married to a usc, your spouse can file for a green card for you, you qualify as immediate relative and that shld be quicker than employment based GC.
