Laid off after Green Card!

Hi All:

I recently got my Green Card. What happens if my company lays me off. Do I need to get the termination(lay off) letter from my employer so that it doesnot cause any problems while filing for Citizenship or to avail unemployment benefits.

What if I resign the company? Does it effect anyway later for filing for Citizenship or to avail unemployment benefits?

I would greatly appreciate your thoughts in this matter.
