Laid off after getting EAD and completing 180 days

Hi,
Recently I got laid off from my company, I have got EAD and 180 days have been completed also.
What is my status?
Whether I am legal in this country or not, I never used my EAD, my H1B is going to expire by the end of Sep 2002.
Can I work part time using my EAD.
My Labor was approved for the post of software engineer.
I h ave heard that after 180 days I can switich to another company but nature of job should be the same, whhile hunting a job for the post of Software Engineer can I work somewhere else
as part time but not using my software skills.
My wife is currently using EAD as she is doing part time job.
I would really appreciate if you could answer my questions.

As long as you have applied for your AOS, you are okay untill the adjudication.

You can work with your EAD anywhere, technically.

If you get an interview/RFE f, then you might have to show the paystubs, employment letter, etc., if the RFE was for verification of Employment status. But only 1/1000 ( as I heard) gets an interview/RFE.

Otherwise, just relax ( but dont sitback) and strategize for job hunt in the jungle..
