Labor cert question-please help!!!!

Hi I am plannig on starting a job in Alabama from july 03 and my H1 6 yr period will be over in oct 03.If I start my GC process now (i.e labor cert), do you think based on the current back log at alabama(state) and atlanta(federal) I may stand a chance of getting my I-140 through before 6yr period is over. I think the backlog for the sesa times improved significantly in the last month or so (from 2001 ?oct to 2002 feb in this region if interpreted it right).Please give your feedback, it will be greatly appreciated.
