Labor cert with PERM

Hello All
My company is getting ready to file an ad for my position in the next few days under RIR,and file by feb/march since my 5 years expires in early May 2005,and so i need to have things filed by then to extend beyond 6 years.
Would this get filed with the BEC's and get stuck in the backlog;my job is in VA.?

Given PERM coming live March 28th 2005 i wanted to get my company to try and file under PERM so it can get approved faster.Would it require lot of changes as opposed to an RIR,and is there enough time to meet the new requirements for PERM,on top of the RIR requirements?

Also given that PERM is electronic filing i would hope approval notices can come back very quick, and then i can meet my May deadline.?

Else would it be better to file RIR,and convert to PERM,if i can do that, and keep the PD date?
Pls advice,if anyone is in similar situation, and for advice.Gurus input at earliest convenience would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Sam6

you will have to submit RIR before March 28 becuase

if you submit PERM application on March 28 and get approval on May 28. And you submit your 140 on June 1, you then can NOT get 7th year H1 extention becuase your 140 is submitted within 1 year of your 6 year H1 limit.

I thought 7th year extension was based on labor certification being filed more than a year before end of 6 years.
pls advice

Yes you are correct, nothing to do with I-140.

Is there a lot of work involved to change an application from RIR to PERM?
From what i read seems like 2 more ad's needed, and couple of other things.
Has anyone already started the process of trying to change a RIR to PERM?
Thanks,
Sam6

Labor cert RIR/PERM

Would a new RIR filed now before march 28th go to the BEC's or NPC?
Thanks,

I think all the pending RIR cases will go to BEC, since NPC will be handling the new PERM cases.
