LA to/From San Diego (I-5)

I need help friends,

I am in LA (California) for 2 week vacation with Family. We did not carry passport or AP. I am planning to go San Diego from LA this weekend to see SeaWorld.

I have heard from my friend, there will be immigration check on I-5 when I come back from San Diego to LA. Is this true? or do you see any issue ??

I am on AC21(EAD with I485 pending).

RIGHT NOW, WE DID NOT BRING PASSPORT OR AP OR EAD WITH US.

at some places near mexican border they check for ID's. If asked you can show some picture ID. I dont think they'll insist for your passports.
