LA interview

Dear Friends,
I finally got an interview call from LA (End of June) after waiting for
quite some time ( buffalo said interview required in July 2004 and trasferred
the case to LA in October 2004).

I have few question about LA interview.

1. Do they ask general question about Canada? Is it a deciding factor in
their decision making?

2. If everything goes fine:
a. Do they stamp the passport right away?
b. Keep the passport for stamping?
c. Request passports later?

Also I recently got married (after recieving interview letter), the letter
says I shouldn't update them any new information till the interview time.
So I will have to add my wife to this application at interview time and
her papers are not complete ( medical, police clearance from home
coutnry etc.) even though my documents are complete.

Can someone share information based on their experience and knowledge
as what to expect at LA?

Thanks Folks!
Chandra

The reason for my concern here is that a few weeks after the interview
date, I need my and my wife's passport for a month long trip outside
US.
Also my medicals expire in July 2005. From what I have heard if I have
to land, it might as well be before Julu 05.

They will definately ask you about Canada. But the questions will be how you plan to find a job in Canada, what are the job prospects in your field etc. So do some research before you go for the interview.

As you have not informed LA that you recently got married you need to get the following documents ready to add your spouse to your existing immigration application:

1) Second page of Application for Permanent Residence IMM 0008,
2) Updated Additional Family Information IMM 5406,
3) Your spouse's Schedule 1 and IMM 5406,
4) Your spouse's birth certificates,
5) Marriage certificate,
6) Spouse's education documents (You can get upto 5 additional points)
7) Photos
8) Application fee in the amount of CAD 550 for spouse (Please check)
9) Photocoy of her passport
10) Police clearance certificate
11) Cover letter requesting them to add your spouse to your application.

Send these documents ASAP so that they can issue medical forms for your wife. You will not get the visa stamped because your spouse has to clear the medical and they will conduct her background and security check which will take a couple of months. You may also have to redo the medicals.

Your wife will have to accompany you for the interview. Ask the interviewing officer regarding your medical.

Thanks Kenny04 for your detailed and prompt answer.

I will send the information to LA ASAP. So far I didn't send it as their letter said
not to send any information, instead bring all the new documents / information
at the interview time.
