Hi All,

I'm in the US on L2 visa with my wife and her L1 expires this December. I came here last week and I'm not sure where to start.

I need to apply EAD/SSN but my wife company is now planning for an L1 extension.

So should I wait for L1 extension and get our visa stamped and apply for EAD/SSN or should i start applying EAD/SSN.

Also my previous employer is ready to hire me, so should i ask them for filing my H1 or should i just apply EAD/SSN and start working?

Can any one of you suggest what is the best way to work this out?

Get Work Permit, as you know if your spouse extension approves or not it helps either way. I-765 application is approved, the card can be valid for up to two years.

Don't understand what you want to wait for. You're already in the US, you don't need to restamp your visa unless you plan to go out after December. Go, get the EAD and SSN, when the L1 is extended -you'll extend the EAD, the SSN has no expiration.

If you worked in the US before - you probably have SSN already, you don't need to apply again. Re H1 - ask them, if they're willing to apply then why not? It will remove dependency on L1, see no reason not to do that. That's entirely unrelated to your L2 and starting your work based on the EAD you'll get, the things are not mutually exclusive.
