My spouse is currently in US on L1 and I-94 valid upto Jan 2008.I got L2 valid upto Jan 2008 and currently I am in India.

My H1b under process and expeted to receive the H1b approval by the end of Sep 2006.

I am planning come to US in the month of september 2nd week through L2.
Once i come to US, I wish to apply for SSN based on the approved H1B petetion (without applying for EAD). I will work based on the SSN & go for the H1B stamping when I next visit India (say, after 1 year).

Is this possible?

I shall be thankful to you if you can guide me based on your previous experience. My email address is vas_mmsap@yahoo.co.in.

You are OK.

You dont need actual stamp in your PP for working in the US. You do need valid work papers such as H1b/EADs. You can get the stamping at a later date.

Hope is helps.
