I am on L2 visa and expecting an I-20 from a university in a week. My husband, the principal L1 visa holder, is completing his work and is leaving the USA in two weeks.
[1] Can I apply for change of status (form I-539) to F1 in the last minute (I may not even receive the receipt notice by the time my husband leaves).
[2] Is there a chance of my F1 getting rejected on the basis of not maintaining my legal status?
[3] Also, how long can a L2 visa holder continue to stay in legal status after the L1 visa holder leaves, if at all it is permitted.
