L2 related indian passport query.

i am working on L1 and i am going to get married in next Feb. so i have question regarding that.

1. is it required to add my wife's name in my passport, or my name in her passport for applying L2?
2. is required to change her last name(make it same as mine), in marriage certificate/passport or some other document?
3. how much it takes for getting L2 visa?
4. after marriage i will be coming to US and my wife will be in india, and she will be doing all the fomalities, is there anything i need to take care?

First of all, congrats for your marriage. I may not be best qualified for answering your question because I've seen an Indian passport only once....

1. Usually if your fiancee already has her passport and her family name changes, there are some procedures to amend her passport so she can continue using her current passport instead of getting a brand new one. I don't know how it works in when you have an Indian passport, but there has to be some process unless the Indian government doesn't allow you to amend this way. As to adding her name in your passport, I don't know. In my home country you don't need to.
2. This is strictly how the laws are written in India. As you know she doesn't have to in the United States. From visa perspective, it is not a requirement as long as you have a marriage certificate.
3. I'm assuming your asking the time required at Consulate to process her L-2 visa. Again, this depends on how long it usually takes at the particular Consulate where she applies for her L-2 visa. In general, it shouldn't take a long time as long as your marriage/current and valid L-1 status are evidenced.
4. None. Just make sure what she needs from your end when she applies for an L-2 visa. In my home country all you need is a copy of your L-1 visa and short supporting letter from your employer saying that the employment behind your L-1 visa is still valid.

I am on a L2. so I thought I can help.
1. It is not required for u to add ur wifes name. But if u want to, you can do it. My husband did it when he had to renew his passport.
2. No need to change last name. She can still have her dad's name or previous surname like how I have. they use passport name in ssn. so make sure its given with right spellings
3.Right after u get married, she can go for interview. compulsary, she need atleast 20 wedding pics, marriage cert original and L1 pettition papers,your passport copy with I94 copy, ur employer details, ur paystubs. If all docs are perfect, they will issue her L2 within 1 week. If u work for an indian company they will clearly tell u in the orientation. I went for my visa interview alone after the wedding. with all this docs, i got the visa within 1 week and we travelled back together.
