L2 EAD Renewal tricky situation - Need help plz!

Hi all,

Below are the validity dates of my L2 Visa, I-94 & EAD:

L2 Visa Expiration Date: 18JUL2010
I-94 : 06MAY2011
EAD expiration date: 02OCT2010

I would like to apply for EAD renewal on June 4th, 2010 [120 days before EAD expiration]

Since I & my husband have I-94 valid till May 2011, my husband's company is planning to extend L1/L2 visas next year. Will my EAD renewal process have an impact in any way with L2 visa validity?

As per my understanding, since I would remain on valid L2 visa after 18 July, 2010 for 7 months[till I-94 expiration date] I can renew my EAD without necessarily extending my L2 visa.

I would like to know whether L2 EAD renewal depends on L2 visa validity or I-94. Also, what
would be the new EAD validity? 2 years or depends on I-94?
 
Visa is only for entry. It can only be restamped (no such thing as extension or affected by EAD or I-94 dates). Company does not extend visas; it only has files a new petition asking for an extension of legal presence.

I-94 is for authorized legal stay. You may receive another one if the company's petion is filed requesting extension.

EAD is for legal work. It cannot affect visa.

You can be on L2 status without having an L2 visa stamping if you were already ion the US when the petition was filed and it was approved as a COS with an attached I-94.

Please read the USCIS documentation so that you understand the various documents/concepts. For example, someone can have a valid visa and expired I-94 and be iollegally present and subject to deportation even though the visa is valid.
 
Hi,

My doubt is does my L2 EAD renewal process needs new L2 petition document? I have valid I-94 till May 2011, but my EAD would expire in OCT 2010. My husband's company would file L1/L2 petition for extension next year.
