This is my second entry to US on L2. When I had come for the first time, I had applied for EAD which got expired along with my spouse's petition on Oct 2006. After L1 and L2 extension, we travelled back to India and got our Visas stamped based on the extended petition. Now can I renew my Old EAD as it was issued for the same petition or do I need to apply for the new one? The process seems to be pretty same for both. Please let me know.

there is nothing like renewing EAD. you will have to apply for new one ones it expires
you have to apply for a EAD - Renewal since your petition is the same and you just got it extended.
Also as per this SSA (Social Security Administration) website, L2 applicants do not require to apply for EAD. so just confirm with SSN office before applyin for EAD.
