L1B to H1B Stamping

Hi,

I have been on L1B visa with company A and applied for H1B visa through company B under 2005 quota and it is approved. But they didn't issue me a I94 with H1B approval notice and adviced me to go to India for stamping.

1. Is there any way to work without going to india as of now like applying for Change of Status again.
2. If i go back to India for stamping what kind of questions do they ask since i am transfering from L1 to new H1.
3. If in any case H1 stamping is rejected (god should not happen) in india do they cancel my L1 stamping which is valid till OCT2005.

Please please give me suggestions/answers to the questions.
Your responce is highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

You can try for stamping at the Canada/Mexico border posts. But there are some risks involved.

You can visit this link for the some more information

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
But in order to go to canada i must have an I94 issued with H1B approval notice. Also there is a note in the approval notice that i must go to chennai counsulate.

Please reply back.

Thanks

In your approval notice mentioned that you have to go to chennai consulate, then there is no other choice. You have to go there for your stamping. Unless you get stampting on your passport you are authorized to work on H-1B.
