Sorry for the detailed email.Mistakes may be treated as my ignorance.
I am working in United States as a Contractor from on L1B (Individual) visa.My visa gets expired by the 31st Jan-2006.(This month end).But my petition is valid upto Dec 2007.
I want to perceive a PHD degree in a very good institute in US like MIT/Havard/Princeton which gives complete Financial aid for PHD students.My mission is to get admission in one such University which offers 100% stypend and go back to India to settle things,to resign and come back to join the school.
I humbly request you to answer the following questions and give a suggestion plan or opinions or ideas as appropriate.
1).Is it possible to convert the L1B (VISA is getting expired by this month end but petition is valid upto Dec 2007) to F1 while being in United States itself ?
2).If it is not possible,can I apply for F1 petition, while being in US ,after I get selected in a school with the I-20?. If yes, please brief me.
3).People are confusing me like, any thing to do with any VISA can be done only in the native land (India in my case). Is it true or is it possible to get a F1 VISA while being in US itself on L1B visa?
4).On my analysis,all the universities give 100% financial aid to PHD students especially. What type financial related questions they may ask in the personal appearance ?
5).Is it true that one can appear for the visa interview in Canada ? Is yes, can you please brief me about the same?
6)Will keeping a good bank balance/transaction history help with regard to the Financial related questions they may ask?
7). Please suggest me any other ideas or opinions addressing my ignorant assumptions!.
My Mission: To do a Fundemental Revolution in the Cultivation of Manufacturing Industries in INDIA by establshing/enhancing Fundemental Research in Science and Engineering (Electronics in particular) after getting a PHD degree from Harvard\Princeton\Standford to improve India's economy like China in the world market and hence forth to see if Poverty of India can be reduced.
I am extremly grateful to any one who can help me in solving the hurdles on my mission!
