L1 visa related

I hold an Indian passport.My L1 visa expires in Mar 2004.I already have a L1 petition which is valid upto 2006. Iwould travel back home in March.In order to renew my visa and come back to US in April,do I need to apply for a new L1 petition again?

You just need the current valid L1 approval notice to apply for a new L1 visa. No need to apply for a new petition.
