L1 to H1

Hi am currently in USA on extended L1 petition valid till Oct 2008. Another company filed for my H1 for which I recently got an approval notice. I had a pending vacation plan starting July end for 4 weeks.

Questions:

1. Can I travel to India as per my plan and come back with my L1 stamped (Since H1 is anyways valid only from Oct 1)? Will this affect my H1 status in any ways.

2. Can I work on H1 after coming back for my new company from Oct 07 without getting the H1 Visa stamped. Or do I have to go to India again and get it stamped before I can start working.

Yes you can travel and enter on L1, but your H1 will get invalid, provided it was change of status. If not no impact on reguar H1 petition

You will have to get out side of US and get your visa stamp
