Hi

I am asking this question on behalf of one of my friends.
Does a L1 to H1 change requires the employee to travel to India to get the new Visa Stamped or it can be handled while staying in US too.
Location : NJ/NY.

You have both the possible ways if you want to stay here and move to a different company go with L1 to H1 with Change of Status(COS) and if you want to go to india and then come back and start with a new job then go ahead with the new filing without COS.
