L1 to H1 - simple query

Hi All,

I am currently on a Blanket L1A visa working for a MNC. Another company has agreed to start my H1 processing in apr 2007. My question is that - would my current employer get to know this through any channel?

I understand the L1 will get technically invalid only from Oct 01 2007. Once the visa is invalid, the blanket petitioner is informed of the change. Until then if I keep working with the current employer, is that legal....especially in the period from April 2007 to Oct 2007.

Thanks for your help!

USCIS does not inform any external parties about H1 process. If you or someone else does not tell your employer. Its very unlikely that your employer will know.

Again blanket petitioner will not be informed about H1 by USCIS. If you do H1 through COS (change of status) you have to join them upon COS date... you have an option to continue to work with earlier L1 but need to consult lawyer and complete the formalities. If its regular H1 you can continue to work with L1 till you go out of US and reenter on H1 stamp on your passport
