L1 to H1 query

Hi I Would Like To Know Few Questions???
I M On L1 Visa Right Now Working Currently In Us
1 ,so Can I Apply For H1 Along With It ?
2 ,if I Can Do I Have To Go Back To India To Get It Approved Or I Can Continue Or Change My L1 To H1 And Start Working With The New Company.
My Question Is To Know That Can I Change My Status From L1 To H1 Which Is For Another Company,and In This Case Is It Neccessary To Go To India To Get It Stamped Or I Can Continue To Work For The Other Companyimmediately.

Yes you can apply for H1. It will be treated as new H1. So if continue your stay in US then when you join H1 company then that company has to inform INS that your status is now H1. That time INS will cancel your L1. Nothing will happen to your L1 till the time new company informs INS.
