For a friend of mine from South Africa:
I arrived in LA in June 2008 on an L-1 visa and I have just applied for my extension which was denied.
I've been told that the L-1 extensions are not being given easily in this economic climate which seems ridiculous if you are trying to establish a business and employ people. I will have to close this business now and my employees are out of a job. In the current climate it is impossible to meet forecasts and budgets proposed 18 months ago. I've been told that I'm wasting my time appealing because it takes a year and I have to leave in the interim. I have been advised to reapply for an L-1 or try for an H1. Does anyone have any ideas?
