Hi,
1. My company filed an L1 petition for me (individual petition) and it's been sanctioned. I haven't got it stamped as yet in Chennai, but I have an appointment at the consultate for Dec 2004 to get it done.
I have a SSN that was assigned to me about 10 years ago during one of my trips to the US, but it clearly mentions that it's for driving license purpose only (and not for employment). Now that I have my L1 sanctioned and my company would be transfering me to the US on employment, do I need to get a new SSN or perhaps change the status of the current SSN? How do I do it?
I am currently visiting the US (a short trip) ... can I just walk into the local SSN office and get this done?
2. I'd like to apply for L2 visa for my wife. In terms of the timing, what's the best way to do it? Should I get it done alongwith with my stamping appointment in Dec? Or is it better to take a separate appointment for her, *after* my L1 is stamped?
