Hi All,

i am L1 but unfortunately company is getting closed and i will be out of job.

i own a home (on mortgage), fully paid car, credit cards, cell phone etc.

i am planning to apply B1/B2 visa to come back to US to do marketing for a Indian company, i may come to US 3-4 times in a year and stay in US in the same home but will not be more than 2-3 months each time. say 5 to 6 months in US in a year.

the Indian company is ready to pay mortgage, cell phone charges, credit card bills, home insurance and all other US expences i do while in US. it looks this company will deposit cash funds in my bank account to pay all bills including home mortgage.

is this legal ?

or what is the best suggestion on this situation.

whats going to happen to my Social Security number once i go out of my present job & L1 status ?

can i still own my present SS number and live like i am living presently by paying all monthly bills including mortgage.

Please advise, thanks in advance for suggestions.

-- This is legal. But this is contingent upon two things: 1) getting a B1/B2 visa
2) Even if you get the visa, coming on B1/B2 status often is frowned upon and that might result in the visa cancellation.

-- Can't you just sell your house? That way, you will be out of this uncertainty...

-- Your SSN stays with you for your entire lifetime...

-- Yes

and live like i am living presently by paying all monthly bills including mortgage.

-- Once you are out of your job, you are out of status and you are required to leave the US as soon as you can. Or get the status changed/re-enter on different status.
