Hi All,
My company will be going through the process of applying for a L1-B visa for me very soon. I work at a UK branch of a large multinational US company.
I am getting pretty excited about the idea of being able to spend a few years in the US and I thought I would put out a post to see if any of you guys can give me any input into the whole Process.
As far as I can tell, the following will Occur:
1) US HQ send petition to USCIS
2) USCIS (hopefully) say yes to this petition
3) I take whatever paperwork USCIS give me with me to the US Embassy in London where they hopefully stamp my passport.
4) Passport gets returned and I jet off to Atlanta
QUESTIONS:
1/ Can I take my wife with me to the stamping interview in order for her to get her L2 visa at the same time?
2/ I am a Software Tester with about 6 years testing experience, anyone think I might have any problems with the Interview? They likely to ask any hard questions? Will they interview both my wife and myself at the same time?
3/ My intention is to apply for a GC (EB-3, I believe) as soon as I get to the US. Should I mention this in the inverview, or should say that I intend to return after my 3 / 5 years have expired?
Ok - next is the Greencard process. I just wanted to check that I am able to apply for a greencard. Do I have to be in the US for any length of time before applying and will the application have any impact on my L1-B Visa or my wifes L2 Visa? Any ideas how long its likely to take? I am not sure of the whole process, but I know I will have to go through LC / PERM. Once I get a greencard, am I allowed to work for any company doing any job?
OK - thanks for your patience reading todays essay
Any feedback any of you have would be greatfully received. Cheers!
