L1 and I-94 status

I had L1B and issued I-94 when I came back from vacation from India last year and the I-94 was valid till Aug 2015. My L1B got expired in Jul and had to apply for L1A through consular process in Canada, got L1A stamped in Aug and came back to US by road but was not given a new I-94 as I had my old I-94 valid till 2015. I am sure it was a mistake by them in the border and they might not realize it was a new visa. I need to have new I-94 based on L1A in order to have me in L1A status to apply GC in EB1/2.

If I go to Canada and while entering back I explain the change of status, would it work and so would officer give me a new I-94?

Any experts advise is much appreciated.

Question about duration stamped on I-94

I have an L1 B visa which expires on 1st August 2013. My employer will be filing for my H1B visa, which will only be valid from October 1st 2013. I would like to take a vacation during April, and I wanted to know when I arrive back in the US, what will be the duration of the time stamped on my I-94 card, as my visa would expire on Aug 1st.

Will I be able to legally stay in the country till the start of my new H1B visa on Oct 1st?

I think I-94 is given based on various circumstances like how long you have already been in US on L1B, passport validity, visa validity, etc.

I was issued till 2015 though my L1B was about to expire in a month last year.

Hope it helps.
