L-visa + girlfriend

Hi all,

I have been offered a inter-company transfer to go and work in Texas, moving from the UK.

I assume this will be on a L-1 visa ?

If so can my girlfriend come with me ?
If not what are the best options for her to stay as long as possible in the US ?

As a tourist (or casual visitor) she can not stay longer than 3 or 6 months depending on how she enters the US (the visa waiver program allows 3 months I think - a B1/B2 visa allows for up to 6 months with possible extension).

If you really want her around she should think about picking up studies (F1 visa) or find a company that us willing to sponsor her visa for a job (H1b).

You can also think about getting married. She will be eligible for an L2 visa and can apply for unrestricted employment authorization.

Please check with an attorney to discuss the alternatives in detail.

i'll Look into those options.

Her father has recently married a US national so maybe I can explore that route too.
