Kolkata consulate H1B stamping

Hi everybody,

I would really appreciate if people can post some of their experiences for H1 visa stamping at the Kolkata consulate. Any problems people have faced or even if there were no problems, please give your experience.
My situation is that I have H1 status right now working in US and will need to get the visa stamp when I go to India soon.
Also, since H1 is supposed to be dual intent, we should not have to prove our intent to return as in the case of student/visitor. Anybody have any bad experience on this issue? I know I can do a drop box procedure, anybody have any experience with drop box and then being called for an interview? Or other matters I have not mentioned here?

Thank you.

I did this stamping in December of last year. From that time a lot has changed. My experience was smooth. Although I qualified for the drop-box, both me and my wife stood in the queue at 8 am and went in about 8.45. Was just asked a couple of questions and my I797 was taken alongwith our marriage certificate. The Indian lady at the counter was asking about some marriage photos, for which I joked that it was about 4 years after the marriage so we thought we didn\'t need to show that we were married. Then she took all the drafts and asked us to come back the next day after 4 to collect our passports. Nowadays you need to take web appointments for interviews or can drop off the documents at ttsvisa services at Camac Street. But overall I feel the H-1B visa stamping is a breeze. My mom would be applying for her B-2 in about 2 weeks time and so I would have some more info later on how that goes.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, Debasis. Glad to know there should not be too many problems.
