Hello !

Could any one of yu let me know if the presence of Canadian PR stamp
has any effect during I-485 application approval / passport stamping ?

My lawyer said it should not matter, but I got some others on this
board wanting to void the canadian PR otherwise the INS might
take exception ?

I am in the exact situation.

I am going next week to US for getting my passport stamped.
I am a canadian PR.
Who is your lawyer.
My lawyer is Sheila Murthy, and I am trying to get in touch with her this week but cant because of holidays.
I lost my job in Canada. I was working for a US company and paid in Canada. They have a prospective job for me but only if I move back.
So I really need the US GC but want to keep my Canadian PR as I am sponsoring my Mother/brother.

thats good news. So are you going to retain your Canadian PR

or will abandon it by default, i.e. by staying out of Canada permanently.
 
I guess one I get the US green card , the can pr is cancelled anyway.

after which I will go to the consulate with the paper and surrender
it to the canadian immigration authorities
