Those of you who already got or will be getting their GC s and who has kids below 14 years need to remember this.
Generally GC s are valid for 10 yrs, BUT .......Kids are required by law to renew their GC s as soon as they turn 14.
Mainly applicable to those kids who would turn 14 within first 5 yrs of GC before becoming citizens. (requirement however is applicable anytime during the full 10 yrs)
This I blv is mainly to capture their FULL biometrics, including finger prints, which are generally not required for kids when they are below 14.
Application (Form I 90) is required to be filed WITHIN 30 days AFTER turning 14. Then only you will get the benefit of paying ONLY the bio fee (now $85), if not and after 30 days you need to pay FULL fee (now $450).
Get more info from following. (chk instructions for 'Reasons-2g 1 & 2')
Best!
