I am a greencard holder now and getting married next week...I am planning to apply for her greencard right after my marriage and then start filing for my citizenship. After I get my citizenship, I will change my spouse greencard application to IR so the process will be much faster...

Can I apply for K-3 for my wife after I become a citizen (is there anything like I have to get married as a US citizen to apply for K-3 or is it like when i am a citizen i am eligible to apply for k-3)?

Is it of any better help if I apply for K-3 in speeding up the process of getting ehr here asap...

Thanks in advance for your help.

The spouse and children of U.S. Citizens(K-3 Visa) and Lawful Permanent Residents(V-1 Visa) may have visa options that enable them to enter the U.S. without first obtaining a Green Card.

In order to qualify for either a K-3/K-4 visa or a V-1/V-2 visa, the U.S. sponsor must have already filed a Form I-130, Immigrant Petition on behalf of his or her relative. The K-3/K-4 or V-1/V-2 visa holders may enter the U.S. while the I-130 Immigrant Petition is pending and apply for a Green Card from inside the U.S. after the petition is approved.
