K-1 visa proceedures

My fiance is a US Citizen and we plan on getting married at the end of February this year. We're also considering applying for a K-1 visa. But we're not sure which would be easier to do and which would get me up into the States faster. He's marrying me in my home country....Trinidad because I can't get up in the states right now. Could someone advise us which would be the easiest thing to do in our situation? I heard that if he comes here to marry me then I'll still have to wait at least 6 months before I can travel. What can I do that will get me into the states with him as soon as possible?

A K-1 visa would permit you to enter the US to get married. If you marry overseas, you will need to file for a K-3 or wait until the I-130 is approved and consular process. No course of action will cause immediate admission and you will need to wait for USCIS approval and consular process in any event.

K1 visa would take 2 - 3 months minimum even with faster service centers like VSC. However, you would have been married by that time and K1 visa petition will no longer be valid.
