Hi all,
My fiance and I went through the K-1 process, and in May of this year I entered the United States and we married.
At this point, however, I'm embarrassed to admit that we're unsure as to the next step in the process, and also regarding my exact status. The USCIS website doesn't seem to have much information about how we should proceed.
Am I considered a conditional permanent resident simply through our marriage, or must we file the I-485 to do so?
Second, do I receive my conditional permanent resident card through the I-485, or is there a separate process?
Third, what is the time frame for processing an I-485, and what is my exact status in the interim? I applied for and received my social security card and have had no problems in securing work, so we're understandably confused.
Many humble thanks.
